Several people were injured after riding a wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey Thursday night.

"Several guests reported back pain after riding El Toro this evening," Six Flags spokesperson Gabriel Darretta said in an email. "Five guests were taken to a local medical facility for evaluation."

Police in Jackson Township said emergency responders were dispatched just before 8 p.m.

SkyForce10 was over the park shortly after as investigators gathered at the bottom of "El Toro," Six Flag's 19-story wooden roller coaster. Several ambulances were also seen in the parking lot.

Darretta said the ride is closed for inspection.

In May, "El Toro" was named #1 on USA Today's list of "10 best roller coasters of 2022," stating it's known as "'the bull' for its powerful and shaky train" and its "totally unique, old-school-new-school experience."
