UPDATE: The Steel Curtain roller coaster at Kennywood Park is open to riders again, the park announced Thursday.

"We have appreciated our guests' patience while we worked closely with the ride's manufacturer on additional maintenance for this one of a kind ride," Kennywood said in a statement.

Thunderbolt, which had also been closed temporarily, began operating again during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

If you plan on going to Kennywood, be aware that two of the amusement park's top attractions are currently closed.

A statement from Kennywood on Tuesday confirmed that the Steel Curtain roller coaster was not open to riders. No anticipated reopening date was given.

"We appreciate our guests' patience as we work closely with the ride's manufacturer to reopen Steel Curtain as soon as possible," general manager Mark Pauls said in the statement. "We are just as disappointed as our guests are for it to not be available. This record-setting ride is the first of its kind, and requires additional maintenance to best ensure guest and team member safety, which is our top priority."

Thunderbolt, another popular coaster, is also closed. Kennywood hopes to have the ride running again for the upcoming July 4 holiday weekend.

"Our expert team of carpenters and maintenance staff is working hard toward the goal of opening Thunderbolt in time for the holiday weekend, which will also be highlighted by the return of fireworks and our Celebrate America event for the first time since 2019," Pauls said in the statement.

"We will keep guests updated as soon as each ride is able to open. Guests can check our Attractions page to learn of scheduled ride closures in advance of their visit."
