Dozens of people laced up their rollerskates and hit the dance floor all for a good cause.

On Friday (May 6), Roller Skate Victoria hosted a pop-up roller disco party fundraising event for the Victoria Cool Aid Society at the Quadra Village Neighborhood Gym.

Open to everyone of all ages and skill levels, the event featured live music with retro tunes, a laser light show, and a brief roller skate dance lesson.

Entry was by donation and organizers say they were able to raise $1,030 for the Victoria Cool Aid Society’s food security program.

The venue cost was covered by donation as were the staff and entertainment costs. Because of the generosity of our #skatefam and #rollerskating community we were able to raise $1030.00 for a most worthy cause.”

Cool Aid Society provides a range of services for the homeless in Victoria including housing and meals. They serve 980 meals each day and over 350,000 meals per year, and operate two commercial kitchens, according to their website.
